Mother's Day is celebrated on different dates around the world — so wherever your mother is, it is worth knowing when her day falls:
- United Kingdom — the fourth Sunday in Lent (also known as Mothering Sunday), in March
- Middle East (Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the UAE) — the spring equinox, around 21 March
- Spain — the first Sunday of May
- United States, Germany, Switzerland, Australia — the second Sunday of May
- France — the last Sunday of May
In the UK, Mother's Day always falls on a Sunday. Until recently it was more traditionally known as Mothering Sunday, coinciding with the fourth Sunday in Lent — a day, recognised by the Roman Catholic and Anglican Church, on which sons and daughters honour their mothers. It is a day of family and celebration, when your mother is relieved of the daily tasks and might even find herself with breakfast in bed. Almost certainly she will receive a gift — but what is the best gift for Mother's Day?
Like so many other occasions, Mother's Day has become more commercialised over the years. The sentiment, though, is unchanged: a time for family to gather and make a mother feel loved and special. Flowers and cards remain the heart of it, often alongside a spa trip or some other treat.
The gift of flowers still wins the day, according to our own mothers — so it feels only right that we have created a special Mother's Day collection of rose gifts. We have put real thought into it, and divided it into three, for the Trendy, the Modern and the Traditional mother. Mothers are so special; they keep all the plates spinning and smother us with love. Go on — treat her the way you know she deserves.
The Trendy Mother
How does she do it? She looks fantastic, the home is beautiful, the children are immaculate — she simply has it. She knows she is loved, and you always go the extra mile, but you want that something that goes beyond words: beautiful, simple, unique. You have come to the right place. Explore our specially curated collection to find the perfect Mother's Day gift for every trendy mother.
The Modern Mother
It is like watching a juggler — everything in the air at once, and not one ball can drop. Modern mothers have acquired new skills, physical and almost psychic, to walk the fine line that keeps everything on track. There are sleepless nights, constant planning, an ideas factory running around the clock. Love and empathy drive her ever onward on a rollercoaster that never stops — until you step in, hold her tight, and tell her how much you love and appreciate her. And because you have taste, you say it with roses.
The Traditional Mother
Perhaps she is the stay-at-home type, building a beautiful home around her family — or still working, with her focus shifted. She knows what she wants, has her finger on the pulse, and is as busy as ever. Everything about her is organised; she is the centre of her own small universe. Her taste is impeccable, everything just so, measured and perfect. She is selfless and keeps little time for herself — so now is the moment to show your love and appreciation. Say it with the world's finest roses, from our beautiful, specially created collection.
